Recent improvements – see below
Tube Enterprises Inc began the manufacturing of the Westcot™ transfer medical bed in 2004. As the manufacturer of this patented product, they have spent the past four years working with the inventor, Mike Weston, turning feedback from patients and providers who have used the Westcot™ during numerous deployments, into a product that continues to evolve to support care, comfort and recovery.
Model 400 (working capacity of 450#):
Testing is done using a 450# lead filled bag cycling over 5,000 times to ensure that the bed maintains its form, fit and function. This capacity change is a direct result of the field experiences of First Responders and Shelter managers asking that a product be developed meeting the challenges of the changing population as well as the all too often use of the bed as a couch, trampoline or even with parent and child trying to sleep in evacuation shelters or portable hospital settings
Recent improvements have been made to eliminate traps for dirt and bacteria and improve safety. The tubing, where possible, has been spun closed to prevent patient exposure to sharp edges and potential "finger choppers"! The bed can be completely decontaminated with any hospital grade disinfectants without cause for concern about corrosion. The mattress meets the latest CPSC FED STD CFR 1633 for flammability and the bed has virtually no shelf-life issues. Support products such as the Westcart Rolling Storage and Deployment Rack, Hanging File Drawer for Patient Records and the Triage Flip Flag, along with Disposable Linens, are all available to support your emergency preparedness plans and deployments. The Westcot™ 400 APC, the taller "procedural" version, is now available as well for Active Patient Care.
